"Hallo there, lovelies. I'm afraid I'm not available at the moment, which probably means I'm doing something fun. Or dead in a ditch. Or stuck under something heavy. If you think it's option number one, leave a message. If you think it's option two or three, do be a dear and call for someone who drives a vehicle with a siren attached."

They were in a hotel room in Istanbul when Eames had suggested the idea, though he'd been toying with it a lot longer than that. He was pleased when Arthur agreed to the idea, even if he seemed more hesitant than Eames was. And had possibly implied that Eames had a deeply perverted mind.

It just seemed a shame that they had unlimited worlds at their disposal, the entire power of the human mind untapped, and they weren't using it. Even if, granted, the kind of experimenting Eames thought about was less than scientific.

Arthur lay on his back in their hotel room when Eames slid the needle in his arm and gently pushed down the plunger. "See you down there, darling," he said quietly as Arthur's eyes shut.

The chatter in the bar was beginning to die down. It was that late, boozy point in the night where everyone was slowly growing too tired or too drunk to do very much. Almost everyone was slouched on a stool or in a chair, leaning on the tables or counters or each other. Soon, the bar would have to close up and they would all stumble home or to a stranger's bed.

Eames had lost count of how many scotches he'd had. He didn't feel wasted, but he was still pleasantly inebriated and warm. So far, the night had merely been him passing time. There had been some idle chatter with the other patrons, but nothing substantial. That was alright. He was content to drink until it was time to go back to the hotel.

He signaled the bartender for another drink. Might as well have another whiskey before the night wound down.

Fourthwalling: I'd really prefer not.

Offensive subjects (elaborate): None that I can think of off-hand.

□ Name: Eames

□ Series: Inception

□ Canon point: Post-canon (a few months after the end of the Inception job)

□ History: Very little information is given about Eames’ history during the course of Inception canon. A few things can be inferred from some of his dialogue, however. He resides in Mombasa, though it’s unclear if he lives there permanently. In the film, it’s stated that he is a thief and forger, and a well-regarded one as well -- Dom Cobb is willing to put himself in extreme danger simply to recruit Eames to work for him. While visiting Eames, it’s also implied that Eames is a veteran at his work when he discusses past jobs that involved a great amount of difficulty.

□ Personality: Eames is a very laid-back, casual individual. Even in the midst of intense shootouts and chases, he finds a way to make light of the situation or make a snarky comment. He likes to enjoy himself and have a good time, and happens to love what he does for a living. Throughout the movie, he makes a habit of joking throughout and teasing his coworkers (such as hitting on Saito while forged as Fischer’s date). Eames also enjoys gambling very much; his totem (an item for telling whether you’re in a dream or reality) is a poker chip.

That said, Eames is also very good at what he does and does not slack when it comes time to work. He doesn’t seem to mind putting himself in dangerous situations for his job, and does well when it comes to combat within dreams: he’s imaginative enough to think of blowing up the fort to wake his coworkers and knows how to use dream-logic to his advantage (when Arthur is unable to take out enemies using a gun, Eames simply uses a grenade launcher). He can also be very focused and methodical when he needs to be; in order to fully forge himself as Browning, he makes a point of studying Browning and his mannerisms.

Eames’ way of interacting with people is very flirty and teasing, especially towards other men. He enjoys getting a rise out of people who seem to be too serious, particularly Arthur. Partly because of his job, he also seems to enjoy being a tease -- he deliberately distracts Robert Fischer while disguised as a good-looking blonde woman, then corners Saito and flirts with him until Saito realizes who he is. Eames is very confident with his sexuality, whether or not he is wearing his own appearance.

Throughout the movie, it’s implied that Eames is not very book-smart in any sense. His spelling is terrible (Dom teases him for it), as are his math skills (he himself admits to it), and his vocabulary isn’t the best (he gets completely lost when Arthur uses the word “specificity”). However, he has very good street-smarts; Cobb credits him with having the best imagination, and Eames is also the one who seems to understand psychology the best. He is the one who instructs the team to break down inception to the simplest possible idea (“I want to break up my father’s company”), figures out what to use to do it (use Fischer’s relationship with his father), and also figures out how to do it (“My father wants me to become my own man”).

□ Age: 33

□ Gender: Male

□ Appearance: Eames is a white man with average height and blue-grey eyes. He’s very well-muscled, with the build of a fighter/wrestler. Across his arms and shoulders are a series of tattoos (which can be seen here). His hair is a light brown, and he usually wears it slicked back.

He generally wears casual business dress, tending towards button-up shirts and blazers. His clothes are well-made and higher-end, but they tend to be slightly tacky (including colors like salmon).

□ Abilities/Powers: In the normal world, Eames is a regular human, although one implied to be skilled with firearms (including grenade launchers). In the dream world, however, he has the particular ability to forge himself into looking like other people. It’s never explained how he can do this or why the rest of the team can’t, but it seems to involve using mirrors: in one scene, we see Eames as himself but his reflection as Browning, while in another he appears as Fischer’s date but his reflection is of his normal self. His job requires him to learn his target’s behaviors and mannerisms so that he can put on their physical appearance in order to deceive the dreamer.

□ Personal Items:
-His totem (a poker chip)
a handgun (small enough to conceal)
a bottle of Somnacin (the drug used in the device that allows access to dreams)
two forged IDs for false identities (if this is not allowed, I’ll remove them)
a deck of cards
a dressy suit
cell phone

Text: I’m starting to almost like this place. I mean, granted, I’m not exactly thrilled with the whole ‘forcible kidnapping’ aspect, and it would be nice to drop by my own flat at some point and, I don’t know, watch kittens on YouTube. And also, perhaps, not deal with the looming threat of some Big Brother scenario if I forget to shag someone off the street.

But it’s starting to grow on me a tad! For starters, constant shagging has really lightened up my time spent on exercise. Which I approve of, as it leaves more opprtunities for blatant time-wasting. Also, the laws of chivalry seem to have relaxed quite a bit, and I have yet to have anyone scream at me for not calling the morning after an excellent buggering. So there is also that.

Also, you all are a kinky lot, and I say that in the most complimentary way that I can. I met a man once, back before I came here, who liked his women dresses as clowns, tied to trees, and done from behind with a sparkly purple dildo while in the middle of a public park and singing children’s nursery rhymes. For the longest time, I was quite convinced that was the most utterly bizarre sex life I would have the fortune to witness, and you have all proved me wrong. To that I say, well done, you crazy, kinky bastards, well done.

□ Third Person Sample:

Eames was, slowly, getting used to life in the city. There was still the nagging thought of when he might be able to return home, if ever -- and, if he did, if there was a way to grab Arthur and Ariadne on the way. His old life had been all he could have really desired, honestly, and this new life was far more restricting than his time spent running around the underworld.

But there were perks. Obviously, getting laid a lot more often. In the past, there’d been a whole song and dance to it: the flirtation, the flattery, the focus on figuring out what his partner wanted before they’d go further. Which could go on for years, if it was someone particularly desirable -- but he couldn’t focus on Arthur, no, that was a dangerous path to tread down, and he wasn’t sure either of them could handle what it would mean.

And then there was the complete lack of prudish mores that had been a thorn in his side in the past. Mombasa had been a fascinating city, but there had been some unfortunate attitudes towards who and what he wanted. This place seemed relatively free of that restrictive mindset, and he was rather glad of it.

There was still a lingering sense of paranoia, however. Living outside the law had meant always being aware of threats and who might be out for your head, and it had earned him a healthy sense of suspicion. Knowing that an entire city’s worth of people had been dragged there left him wondering what else this place had up its sleeve, and what happened to those that decided they weren’t interested in toeing the line.

For the moment, he could get used to it. He could keep himself in line. And, for the most part, he could enjoy it -- even if there would always be that nagging concern for what could happen if he slipped up.
